Tent camping at Glacier National Park

I plan to do tent camping at Glacier National Park campgrounds (St. Mary and Fish Creek) on July 8 and 9th. Will it be too cold for tent campers?

Thanks in advance.

Since many other people do it, I%26#39;d have to say it must not be too cold. :^)

We%26#39;ve tent camped in Rising Sun and Two Medicine in August and found it to be pretty cool but we were prepared for that and enjoyed it.

Should be fine, I%26#39;ve camped often over 4th July. If you want to be warm in the morning, set up your campfire the night before so all you have to do is throw a match on it in the morning to get the heat turned on.

Here are some tips:

Change out of your day clothes before you go to bed. Put on clean dry clothes or pajamas. Your day clothes are full of your daily perspiration and will chill you. Wearing nothing reduces you by one insulating layer!

Fill a Nalgene with boiling water. Put it in the sleeve of something polarfleece and bring it in to your sleeping bag.

Put some six inch rocks around your campfire for several hours before bedtime. Bring one of these ';loveys'; to bed in your sleeping bag -- they stay warm a lot longer than the water bottles.

Leave a little vent hole in the tent door to let condensation (from your warm exhalation) out.

Go to the WC before turning in. Sometimes having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night wakes you up, and you end up getting cold. Or lying there shivering thinking how much you DON%26#39;T want to get up right now! Hence, don%26#39;t drink mass quantities of liquid right before bed either. A hot drink is nice though.

Pull your sleeping bag out of the tent, turn it inside out and let it dry in the hot sun during the day. Put it back inside before the sun sets and dew falls.

Bring a warm hat to wear to bed, and thick socks and maybe even gloves.

Pack an extra layer of polarfleece.
