I am looking for any advice or information on the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. My small family, wife and 8 year old, is looking for a nice spot to stay after camping and cabining for a week in Montana and Yellowstone. We will be heading back to Bellingham WA from Yellowstone and would like to get a few days of comfort and rest before heading back to the Bellingham. Is the Fairmont Hot Springs Resort a good choice? Are there other resorts in the Anaconda, Butte, Missoula area that would be worth checking out??

I live in Bozeman and operate the Grey Cliffs Ranch. My wife and I with our two kids 2 %26amp; 6 went to Fairmont last year. It%26#39;s O.K. It depends on what you%26#39;re looking for. It%26#39;s dated feels like the seventies. The rooms are very dated. The food was O.K. The water slide was good for older kids, there%26#39;s a petting zoo. Personally our favorite hot spring in the area is Chico Hot Springs between Gardiner and Livingston. It%26#39;s very old and historic and the setting is incredible. You may want to look at Lolo Hot Springs next to Missoula I%26#39;ve only driven by to go to the natural hotsprings in the area but I%26#39;ve heard good things about it.
Fairmont Hot Springs Resort
While we have not tried Fairmont (yet) but I would concur about Chico. They have a nice range of lodging options from B%26amp;B style shared bath in the lodge to large cabins. The hot pool would be too hot for an 8yo but the very large main pool is just nicely warm. We%26#39;re hot springs junkies and this is one of our favorites. They also have a great restaurant. Unfortunately when trying to get a jump on the drive home this does not get you very far.
In the wrong direction a great place with kids is Thermopolis because of the hot springs water parks.
Since you are headed pretty close to the border anyway looping up through southern BC might be an option.

We were there last year for an event and, honestly, the beds in our room were in need of replacing. The food was enjoyable, though.

I%26#39;m thinking the 8 year old might enjoy Fairmont because of the waterslides. There is also Jackson Hot Springs, kind of quirky and neat. But, do not go to Lost Trail Hot springs, it is awful.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your interest in Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. I'm the general manager of the resort, and thought I would take a moment to give you some details. All most all of our guest rooms have been renovated in the last couple of years. We have two suites that will be renovated this spring then we will be at 100% renovation. I've always wondered where the "dated" comment comes from, considering the rooms are brand new. We don't hear that very much and all I can figure is that its because we haven't made the transition to flat screen TV's. It hasn't been an issue with our guests, because there is so much to do at Fairmont that television isn't much of a concern to most people.
Its the hot springs pools that are the center of Fairmont. You won't find a better hot springs resort in the Northwest than Fairmont. We have four hot springs pools, with over 500,000 gallons of water in over 22,000 square feet of pools. We have an onsite golf course, onsite spa, nearby hiking trails and can recommend a guide if outdoor adventure is what you are looking for. Plus, we are only 3 miles of Interstate 90, so you won't have to go out of your way.
