May activities?

We (two adults and a 12-year-old boy) were going to be there at the end of May...which seems like an in-between time. What is there to do then? Will the ski lift be open to ride for the view/hike down? Is the Lodge at Big Sky a good choice? We want to do outdoorsy things; my husband is a biologist.

May activities?

It IS an in-between time. Neither the Huntley Lodge nor the lift will be open. However, you should still be able to find lodging in the Big Sky area. Hiking trails at higher elevation will still be snow covered, and rivers will be running high and fast. They say ';April showers bring May flowers';, but in Montana it%26#39;s ';May showers bring late June flowers';; May through early June can be rainy on average. I%26#39;m not sure what your plan details are, but you might consider staying and playing in Bozeman, where there will be much more to do, inclusing some indoor things. There%26#39;s still plenty of the ';great outdoors'; just outside town.

Thanks for your information.

I wondered about staying at Chico Hot Springs...just outside Bozeman but more in the country. We are headed to jackson hole after two nights in Montana, so I was looking for something that would be different from Jackson Hole.

Chico is very nice, good food -- although not much indoors to do other than the pool. You can also drive into Livingston, which is a cute little artsy Western town, with some nice restaurants. Bozeman is a university town, and the vibe is totally different from cowboy-chi-chi Jackson. Either can be visited while staying at Chico;, if that%26#39;s an option for you, it would get my vote.
