Questions about Glacier National Park

Kalispell (FCA) is the closest airport. I think you would need to rent a car to get to the park. What month are you traveling? The Amtrak stations are outside the park and you would still need transportation. There is the shuttle system (no reservations and you may have to wait for seat) or the Jammer Tours, The Jammer tours would be a great way to see the park. They leave from the lodges and maybe the visitor center. I would stay one night on the west side, travel the road and then stay in Many Glacier area. Scenery there is great. Also wildlife. You should be able to get great photos. Are you interested in hiking at all or just seeing the park from the road?

Questions about Glacier National Park

As mentioned Kalispell is the nearest airport to the Park but many people hunt around for cheaper air fares / car rental deals at surrounding airports such as Spokane, Missoula, Great Falls. From the Spokane airport to West Glacier is about a 5 to 6 hour drive with lots of route options and great scenery. Not sure what your Amtrak question is. Amtrak arrives and departs from Spokane late at night so not the most convenient from a time of day standpoint. Glacier has a lot to see, the new shuttle system relieves some of the need for a car. My favorite part of the park is the Many Glacier area for the hiking and wildlife sighting opportunities, and the services (campground/hotel/motel/store/ranger led hikes) in one area.
